April Petrusma
ODA CEO & Founder of South Pacific Eye Care Foundation

April is a qualified optical dispenser with a degree in visual communication design and a high level of expertise in optics, business management and tertiary education. She has experience within the corporate, independent and education sectors of optical dispensing and is the co-founder and CEO of Optical Dispensers Australia (ODA) - Australia’s national body providing support, resources and development opportunities for optical dispensers.
As a qualified trainer & assessor, April has been a senior trainer at ACOD since the college began in 2017, teaching across various states of Australia and New Zealand. She is a passionate advocate for the optical dispensing profession and has contributed to various articles and authored dispensing columns in Australian and New Zealand Ophthalmic media publications including mivision, Insight, Eyetalk and NZ Optics.
April is deeply passionate about addressing avoidable vision impairment and strengthening eye care systems in communities where access to services and trained professionals can be limited. In 2026, this lead April to co-found the South Pacific Eye Care Foundation where she is currently serving as the Executive Director.
