Jacobus Boshoff

After marrying an optometrist many years ago, Cobus inevitably found himself drawn into the world of optics. What began as an introduction to his wife Mariki’s profession gradually grew into a genuine interest in the industry and the people within it. In 2017, Cobus formalised this new direction by completing his Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing, leaving behind a successful career managing corporate IT development projects to join Mariki full-time in their own private practice.

Since then, Cobus has embraced the profession wholeheartedly. He enjoys the blend of technical knowledge, problem-solving and personal connection that optical dispensing offers, and values the opportunity to help people see better and feel confident in their eyewear. Working alongside Mariki in their practice has allowed them to combine their skills and build a business that reflects their shared commitment to patient care and quality service.

Cobus has also developed a strong appreciation for the optical community and the collaborative spirit within the profession. He has been an active and passionate member of the Optical Dispensers Australia (ODA) community for many years and is committed to supporting the ongoing growth and recognition of the profession. Today, he contributes his experience and perspective as a member of the ODA Advisory Board, where he enjoys helping shape initiatives that support and strengthen the optical dispensing profession.
