As an optical dispenser, have you ever considered how bad dry eyes can affect a patient's visual acuity upon collection of their new spectacles? Or how a special tint may improve the overall outcome for someone with a certain eye disease? Do you know the repercussions of correcting a head tilt when taking measurements if your patient has a condition like cranial nerve palsy? 

It's not just about the prescription numbers when it comes to dispensing a pair of spectacles and reaching the best outcomes for the patient. In this session, Layal will discuss how the findings inside the eye can link to the dispense and how the dispenser can improve the visual results for their patients. She will explain how common eye diseases and disorders can impact the end result and will provide examples and case studies of various conditions.  

About the speaker: Optometrist Layal Naji is a lecturer of Optometry at the University of Canberra and co-founder of the outreach optometry clinic at the Asylum Seekers Centre in Newtown, Sydney
