Topic: "Dispensing for Sports"

Normally, when dispensing a script, it is recommended that the lens choice is made first and the frame choice follow on. Because, during many sporting activities, protection from glare, UV and impact are important, wrap type frames are indicated. As frames become larger this causes increasing problems with lens choice. 

This webinar will cover:

· The issues with lens thickness and cut out with wrap frames and script.

· The reasons for and calculations used for the compensated powers necessary to produce sharp vision for sports in high wrap frames.

· Recommendations for glare and UV reduction including materials and treatments that will improve contrast whilst protecting the eye.

Nicola Peaper qualified as an optometrist in the UK in 1985 and practiced in private and corporate practice in the UK for 20 years. In 2001/2 she was employed as Ophthalmic Advisor to Kensington, Chelsea & Westminster Health Authority.

Since moving to Australia in 2005 she has worked in fitting laboratories advising on procedures and quality. In roles as State and National training manager she has gained extensive experience in presenting the technology behind, and the prescribing and fitting of ophthalmic lenses.
