Topic: A Dispensers Guide to Cataracts & Cataract Surgery

Cataracts are a leading cause of blindness around the world and are a common cause of low vision in the elderly. It's important for Optical Dispensers to understand the condition so they can provide patients with the best visual outcomes both pre and post op. During this Webinar, Dr Yohendran will explain exactly what a cataract is, how it develops and how spectacles can help. He will discuss the indications for surgery, what the surgery involves, types of intraocular lenses and refractive options with cataract surgery. Lastly, he will provide an explanation on the recovery process, post op requirements and potential complications to be aware of.

About the speaker: Dr Jay Yohendran is an ophthalmologist who specialises in refractive cataract surgery. He is the Head of the Ophthalmology Department at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, and a Clinical Lecturer at Sydney University. Dr Yohendran consults privately at Northern Sydney Cataract on the Lower North Shore (Northbridge). Dr Jay Yohendran graduated with Honours from the University of Sydney Medical School in 2001. Prior to this he completed a Bachelor of Medical Science degree at Sydney University, and later a Masters of Public Health at NSW University.
