Eyes of Hope needs volunteer Optical Clinic Assistants to help us continue to grow our recently established mobile clinics that service homeless and vulnerable populations in the city of Sydney. We rotate our mobile clinics through three inner-city community spaces - performing a monthly clinic in each space.

Our clinics are staffed by a small team of volunteers (often Optometry students) who provide support in clinic operations, patient liaison, van driving, and clinic set up and pack down.

Your vital role will be to support our entire clinic operations, and your main responsibilities will include: helping setting up and packing down our mobile clinics; greeting and interacting with patients in a friendly and respectful manner - ensuring they feel comfortable and valued; interpreting prescriptions; assisting with frame selection; processing orders and maintaining accurate patient records.

Although it’s not essential, many of our volunteers have certification and/or experience in optical dispensing.

Our clinics currently run on Mondays (10.30am to 3.30pm) and ideally, we'd love our volunteers to commit to being rostered on at one clinic every month/every couple of months. You are able to select your own clinic dates and locations based on your preferences and availability.
