ODA is pleased to be offering a brand new training program for the industry.
"Optical Assistant / Dispensing Induction Training"
The primary goal of this training program is to prepare candidates for their new role within the optical industry and is suited to new employees or existing team members that have not yet undertaken the Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing qualification.
This training program offers candidates the necessary technical and customer service skills needed to work as an optical assistant or begin a career in optical dispensing. The program ensures they are capable of effectively contributing to a practice environment from day one and will enhance their skills, knowledge, confidence and productivity. More information on the course program can be found below.
Our induction training program covers a range of key areas and may be tailored to the individual needs of the practice or employee. Our flexible model can be undertaken remotely via self-paced online learning or in a face-to-face environment over four days, presented by qualified trainers.
The full program includes a nationally recognised unit accredited by ACOD (RTO: 45068) BSBCUS301 – Deliver and monitor a service to customers, which can be credited towards further future learning, such as the Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing course. A certificate of completion will be awarded to those that successfully complete the program.
NB: The face-to-face program will only be available in Australia or New Zealand, however candidates may register for the online learning option from any location or country from Jan 2025.
We understand that staff shortages across the country are real and in an effort to enourage job seekers into the industry, we are also providing this training program beyond Optometry Practices and Optical Businesses, and have developed a government endorsed, pre-employment training program available to those looking to gain employment within the industry. This is currently being offered face-to-face in various states with a pilot being conducted in Melbourne in November 2024. The November program is already booked out which is a great sign for the future of our profession.
